The everlasting God has in His wisdom foreseen from eternity the cross that He now presents to you as a gift from His inmost heart.
This cross He now sends you He has considered with His all-knowing eyes, understood with His divine mind, tested with His wise justice, warmed with loving arms, and weighed with His own hands to see that it be not one inch too large and not one ounce too heavy for you.
He has blessed it with His holy Name, anointed it with His consolation, taken one last glance at you and your courage, and then sent it to you from heaven, a special greeting from God to you, an alms of the all-merciful love of God.
~St. Francis de Sales

Thoughts & Prayers go out to you!!!

Beverly, I haven’t seen that prayer in a while. I love it…..my favorite part is, “warmed with his loving arms.” Thank you.
Sincerely, Mary
I was reading tonight and ran across this quote from St. Francis de Sales and remembered another quote of his that you posted under “Your Cross” on your blog. St. Francis de Sales wrote, “If I want only pure water, what does it matter to me whether it be brought in a vase of gold or of glass? What is it to me whether the will of God be presented to me in tribulation or consolation, since I desire and seek only the divine will?”
It certainly reflects the quote you selected (perhaps they are from the same passage) where St. Francis spoke of God blessing the cross with His Holy Name and anointing it with His consolation. It occurred to me that you have such a beautiful way of reflecting both the tribulation and the consolation simultaneously. You so readily reveal that tribulation is conquered by God’s gift of consolation . . . how beautifully you live out His will.
Beverly, the Light of Christ is so evident in you . . . you are my sign of Advent this year . . . my rememberance of 1) the Christ child’s purpose in coming to earth even with full knowledge of the tribulation that faced him, 2) his coming to us each and every day; loving and strenghthening us in our earthly journey, and 3) his promise of life eternal that is held deep within our assurance of his Second Coming. May you experience his consolation in the coming days as we celebrate this most special season as Christians, and may you draw strength in the unending comings of Christ that we celebrate this Advent. Maranatha!
I love you and pray for you through God who first love us,
Anne
Beverly,
As usual you are ministering to me! I needed St. Francis’ words today and lo and behold you brought them to me.
Thank you for sharing your journey with us.
We are praying and know God is listening,

Beverly, I was re-reading this tonight. It is so beautiful. Difficult, but beautiful. None of us like “crosses.” I certainly don’t. May God bless you in every possible way.
Love, Mary
Beverly,
These words hit home for sure. You’re blessed with your closeness to Christ. I will continue to pray for your recovery and look to you as an inspiration!!!!
